In January 2004, I got my dream job as acquiring editor for the Starscape middle grade and Tor Teen YA imprints. I have eclectic tastes, and am open to be queried about everything, not only science fiction and fantasy. Genre is less important than the story and characters. I love books with flawed characters and suspenseful storytelling. For chapter books I am looking for high concepts; for middle grade, action and adventure; and in YA, stories that are thought-provoking and emotionally truthful. Authors I’ve worked with include bestselling and acclaimed authors W. Bruce Cameron, Alan Gratz, Sarah Porter, Brandon Sanderson, Bill Willingham, and Laurence Yep, among others.
