Sightwitch by Susan Dennard
In Sightwitch, Ryber and Tanzi are good friends who are parted when Tanzi is summoned into the mountain home of the sleeping goddess Sirmaya and never returns. The girls’ bond is palpable through flashbacks and journal entries from both girls’ points of view, and their scribbled notes to each other in the margins of the pages. The loss of Tanzi doesn’t feel real at first, and becomes more horrifying as we slowly begin to understand the depth of their friendship. A unique way to reveal such a strong companionship!
